A phonics word-builder where students hear, see, construct, create and work with over 7000 phonic parts to construct the Seven Buildings of the Word World: consonants, vowels, endings, homophones, compounds, and Latin roots and prefixes.
Teacher approved for ESL, remedial and dyslexia needs. Intensive use of natural speech, animation and graphics help reinforce in-depth phonics awareness in word-building and spelling.
There is a variety of levels of word work: from simple single-syllable consonantal formation to complex polysyllabic Greek and Latin word-building - all levels encouraging maximum word play and word experimentation. Student progress is recorded, assessed and can be stored for retrieval.
Students select a building to construct. They enter the Word Tool Shop where they choose a word group to work with. Here they assemble phonic parts, and hear the spoken results of their selections. They can experiment with consonantal, vowel, and word ending variations. Different voices can be selected to suit the student.
In Construction Site, students hear, but not see, a word in a spoken sentence. They select from a variety of beginning, middle and ending phonic sounds, to make the test word. Successful word-building is rewarded with the cladding construction of a colorful building. Students may destroy the building and start again, or move on to another building site. Some sites require much work to complete. Each building has associated lessons in phonics and word structure.
