PKZIP for Windows (see screen shot) is a multifunction file compression utility. With it you can create self-extracting and standard ZIP files that span multiple diskettes, run an executable file from within an archive without the need to extract first, and add a specified group of files to a ZIP archive all at once. PKZIP includes the ability to extract TAR, GZIP, MIME, BinHex, UUencode, and XXencode file formats. PKZIP also includes helpful wizards to assist novice PKZIP users, integrates with Windows Explorer, and can create shortcuts as well as lets you copy, move, delete, and rename ZIP files. New in version 2.70 is email MAPI support, so users may email archives from within PKZIP. In the registered version, you can embed authenticity verification into ZIP files to ensure a ZIP file's integrity, and create Explorer-enabled 32-bit self-extracting files. The cost to register is $39.
