Accelerated File Search is a PC program designed to search files on the hard drives very quickly. You will never waste your time again waiting for the Windows Search to complete the search operation. With Accelerated File Search you will be able to find files just in one second. Accelerated File Search creates copy of the filesystem table in RAM, therefore the search is lightning fast and what is also very important, search process does not require HDD activity (which is a source of annoying noise).
At the first startup of the program, the index of filesystem entries is created. This process may require few minutes to complete. When the indexing is done, the program is ready to search files. Accelerated File Search automatically starts at the windows startup, you can find it's icon in system tray. It is important to keep the program running all of the time because it monitors filesystem and when a file is created/deleted/renamed it automatically updates the index table in real time.
To search for a file or folder, just specify file (folder) name or a part of it in the search box and press enter. You can use standard wildcards: * and ?
* - means occurrence of any number (including zero) of characters
? - means occurrence of exactly one character
There are two search modes, simple and advanced. When using simple mode the search is done only by the file name. In advanced mode you can also specify: file type, file size, last modification time, and hard drives to search on.
When you close main window of Accelerated File Search, the program is not terminated, it is minimized to system tray instead. Double click on tray icon and the program window will be displayed again. You can also use key combination Ctrl+Alt+F to invoke the program any time. Note that you can disable/enable the Ctrl+Alt+F hotkey in the program options.
