There are more than 200,000 apps in the App Store that can be run on the iPad (the iPad should run most of them without a problem). There are more than 5000 apps that have been especially developed to run on the iPad. This means the apps have been especially created to take advantage of the device’s large screen, high quality graphics and multi-touch user interface.
“One million iPads in 28 days—that’s less than half of the 74 days it took to achieve this milestone with iPhone,” said Steve Jobs, Apple’s CEO. “Demand continues to exceed supply and we’re working hard to get this magical product into the hands of even more customers.”
In related news, Apple recently reported its best non-holiday quarter results ever. For its fiscal Q2, which ended on the 27th of March, apple reported total revenues of $13.5 billion and net quarterly profits of $3.07 billion.
