7 New 3D Games for the Palm WebOS
The great news for game loving Palm customers is that 7 new 3D games have been introduced to the Palm App Catalog. The 7 new games I am talking about are:
  • EA Mobile: Need for Speed Undercover, The Sims 3, Monopoly
  • Gameloft: Asphalt 5: Elite Racing and Let’s Golf!
  • Glu Mobile: Glyder 2
  • Laminar Research: X-Plane

Alongside the 7 games presented above, Palm will introduce 5 additional mobile games. Tetris, Sudoku and Scrabble by EA Mobile would be the first 3 titles. The other two mobile games are Gameloft’s Brain Challenge and The Oregon Trail.

“We are very excited about the potential of webOS as a platform for mobile 3D gaming,” said Senior Vice President, Product Marketing with Palm, Katie Mitic. “This is a key application category, and we've worked closely with some of the leading game developers to deliver a great game experience for our customers.”

EA Mobile, Gameloft, Glu Mobile and Laminar Research had early access to Palm’s WebOS PDK (Plug-in Development Kit) and came up with plug-ins for their WebOS applications. Consequently the game developers could come up with the games presented above, games that feature stunning looks and graphic-intensive gameplay.

“Thanks to some new capabilities offered by the Palm webOS Plug-in Development Kit (PDK), the seven 3D games feature graphics-intensive gameplay. The PDK extends the Palm webOS Software Development Kit (SDK) with a set of tools that enable the functionality needed for immersive 3D gaming. A public beta version of the webOS PDK is scheduled to be available to all developers in March,” explained Communications and Marketing Director with Palm, Jon Zilber.

If you are a developer and would like to get more info on the webOS PDK, visit the Palm Developer Center here.
