The Fifa 2010 World Cup is over. Spain managed to win the much coveted title of World Champion, followed by the Netherlands in second place and Germany in third place. As you may remember, Mozilla launched an interesting competition when the World Cup kicked off – Mozilla launched the Firefox Cup.
Firefox users could get a Firefox Cup Persona and support their favorite World Cup team. By doing this all the Firefox users out there did two things: first up they showed their passion for their favorite team; second up they helped their favorite team get a better standing in the Firefox Cup. The Firefox Cup was not about which team has the best players – it was about which team has the most supporters.

“To celebrate the world’s largest football tournament, we launched the Firefox Cup — a friendly, global competition based on the number of users for each team Persona. We’ve seen thousands of fans from around the world showing their team spirit by wearing Personas on their Firefox. The winner for each round was chosen based on the team Persona with the most fans (average daily users) for the week,” explained Mozilla’s Mary Colvig.
