Apple Touts iTunes U Success
Cupertino-based software developer Apple has recently announced that iTunes U, a specialized area of the Apple iTunes store meant to allow Higher Education institutions to released audio and visual content, is a big success. According to Apple, has grown at an unprecedented rate and has become one of the most popular online educational.

“iTunes U makes it easy for people to discover and learn with content from many of the world’s top institutions,” said Eddy Cue, Apple’s vice president of Internet Services. “With such a wide selection of educational material, we’re providing iTunes users with an incredible way to learn on their computer, iPhone, iPod or iPad.”



Apple backed these claims of unprecedented growth with some concrete figures. In the 3 years iTunes U has been around, more than 300 million downloads have been recorded. In the three years iTunes U has been around, it attracted more than 800 universities from all over the world. All these universities have active iTunes U sites. iTunes U provides access to more than 350,000 audio and video files from international educational.

Among the universities that iTunes U has attracted we can find big names such as Harvard, MIT, Cambridge, Oxford, University of Melbourne and Université de Montréal.
