Bing for Android App Lands on Verizon Phones
As you may already know, the Android-operating system is the child of Mountain View-based search engine giant Google. This Linux-based operating system, which powers numerous mobile models including the HTC Droid Incredible, Motorola Droid, Droid 2, and Droid X, Motorola Devour, and the LG Ally, provides easy access to just about all of Google’s services, including search obviously.

If you are not a big fan of Google’s search engine and would much rather use Microsoft’s Bing search engine, there are some good news for you – but only if you have a Verizon Android-powered Phone. The good news is that Redmond-based software giant Microsoft has recently rolled out Bing for Android. The app is now available free of charge on the Android Market for Verizon phones.

“We are happy to announce the first official Bing for Mobile Android App available to Verizon customers. You can now download the free Bing App from your Verizon Wireless Android phones’ Marketplace,” announced earlier this week Andy Chu, Bing for Mobile.

Here are some of the features you can expect to get form the Bing for Android app:
- Bing’s image of the day with clickable hotspots. If you missed one, you can view Bing’s image of the day for the past 7 days.
- The search feature (including image search) comes with endless scrolling results.
- Voice search feature that allows you to perform a search by speaking out the query.
“Our investment in voice search continues in our Android App and works great for searches like map locations as well as web search. This works especially well when looking for “Instant answers” which give you quick and relevant answers for things like movies, stock quotes, flight status and local listings,” explained Andy Chu.
- The app will automatically detect your current location and pin you on Bing Maps. From within Bing Maps you can search for nearby restaurants, theaters, businesses and other points of interest.
