Remember those laid back, lazy summer days when you just sat and looked at the sky, contemplating the clouds as they went by? I know I did; I would sit in a comfy chair by the seashore with a cold one in my hand, just looking at the clouds go by. Those are now just distant memories of a vacation that went by too fast and now I’s stuck in an office looking at a monitor all day long.
But that doesn’t mean I can’t see clouds on my desktop. Thanks to the recently released Windows Live Clouds theme for Windows 7, I can look at some great quality, beautiful pictures of clouds. The Windows Live Clouds is a collection of 10 incredibly good looking images of clouds (check out the preview at the bottom).

Back in October, to celebrate the launch of Windows Live Essentials 2011, Microsoft kicked off the Windows Live + Bing photo contest. Microsoft asked users from all over the world to send in pictures of clouds. Out of all those pictures, Microsoft would select the best one and feature it on the Bing homepage for one day. The contest was won by Somana Konganda with a picture of Mt. Rainier from 10,000 feet. Somana Konganda’s image, which you can check out at the bottom, was featured on Bing.com on the 8th of November.
The thing is that so many people sent in beautiful pictures of clouds that Microsoft could not let them go to waste. So it decided to share those pictures with the rest of the world by putting them together in a theme pack for Windows 7 and publishing the theme pack on the Windows Personalization Gallery, the online domain where you can find Windows 7 themes, desktop backgrounds, desktop gadgets and SideShow gadgets. At the time of writing this the gallery is home to more than 100 Windows 7 themes and about 80 desktop wallpapers.
