Emoticon Lovers, Check Out the Yahoo! Messenger Faceoff Contest on Facebook
Do you like emoticons in Yahoo!'s instant messaging application, the aptly named Yahoo! Messenger ? Out of all the emoticons, do you have one that you favor above all else? Would you like to be the inspiration for a new emoticon? If you do, then you need to check out the Yahoo! Messenger Faceoff contest that launched on Yahoo!’s Facebook fan pace. The contest launched yesterday, the 28th of February, and runs until the 18th of March.

“Do you love our Yahoo! Messenger emoticons as much as we do? From now through March 18th, show us your best emoticon impression for a chance to have your face turned into a brand new Yahoo! Messenger emoticon to be added to the Yahoo! Messenger emoticon gallery,” announced the Yahoo! Messenger Team.

If you want to take part in the Yahoo! Messenger Faceoff contest, here’s what you have to do:
1. Take a picture of yourself imitating your favorite emoticon and submit that picture.
2. Once you’re picture is published to the Faceoff gallery, get your friends and family to vote for your submission. They will have to “Like” your photo in the aforementioned Faceoff gallery.
3. On the 18th of March voting for the contest will end; there will be two rounds of voting. The user with the most likes will have the honor of having his or her face turned into a brand new emoticon for Yahoo! Messenger.

In related news, do you know that with Yahoo! Messenger 11 you can chat with your Facebook friends? After you link your Yahoo! account with your Facebook account, you will be able to access Facebook chat from within Yahoo! Messenger and chat with your Facebook chat. That’s great news, I know, but it doesn’t stop there. You can keep the Facebook chat going by registering your mobile phone. Register your mobile device and when you log out of Yahoo! Messenger for desktop, you will be automatically logged into your mobile device. When a Facebook friend sends you a chat message, that message will be forwarded to your mobile device as an SMS.
