Facebook Rolls Out the New and Enhanced Profile to Everyone
Back in December the immensely popular social networking site was announcing that it came up with a new and enhanced Facebook profile. At the time Facebook said that it did not roll it out to everyone – instead it allowed users to choose if they wanted to try out the new profile (which was as simple as heading over to facebook.com/about/profile/).
The other day Facebook announced that it is rolling out the new Facebook profile to all its users, thus providing enhanced functionality to the more than 500 million Facebook users all over the world.

“Last month, we introduced the new profile, which now makes it even easier for you to tell your story and learn about your friends. For the month of December, we gave people the option to upgrade to the new profile early, and hundreds of millions of you made the switch. Starting today, we'll be rolling out the new profile to everyone,” announced yesterday Facebook Engineer Philip Ra.
The new and enhanced Facebook profile has the following to offer:
Summary The profile presents a quick overview of basic information, like where you're from, where you went to school, and where you work. Furthermore the profile displays a row of recently tagged photos of you.
Friends Some friends are more important to you than others, and the development team at Facebook is well aware of this fact. That is why the new profile allows you to highlight the friends who are most important to you.
Sharing You can share a more complete picture of how you spend your time and you can include the friends who share your experiences. You can also share your interests with others; the profile displays your top interests as a row of images. You can arrange your interests by dragging and dropping them.
“You can list the projects you worked on at your job, classes you took in school, your favorite musicians and sports teams, and more,” explained Facebook engineer Josh Wiseman. “You can also share your life philosophy by connecting to the religions, political affiliations, and people you follow and admire. All your interests and experiences are now represented with images, making your entire profile a more compelling visual experience.”
Convenience The new “infinite scroll” feature makes it easier to browse all your photos. Finding the people you’re looking for is easier than ever. In the Friends page you can search by name, hometown, “or a number of other dimensions” as Wiseman explained.
