Fixes, Enhancements and New Features in Digsby Build 85
The development team behind popular multiprotocol instant messaging app Digsby has recently announced the fact that Build 85 has been released to the general public. “What’s so great about that?”, you may ask right about now; and then you may go on saying “new Digsby builds are rolled out all the time.” The great thing about Build 85 is that, as the Digsby team explained, comes with “major usability improvements, new features, bug fixes, and enhancements.”

The complete list of changes in Build 85 is available here. If you don’t feel like going though the changelog, her are the notable changes in Digsby Build 85:

New auto-update behavior
In the past Digsby downloaded updates before you logged into the application. Now Digsby downloads updates after you log in. Updates are applied when you restart Digsby.

If you don’t want Digsby to automatically download updates, go to Preferences -> General & Profile.
If you want to manually check for updates, go to Help -> About.

Redesigned Accounts section
The Accounts section in Preferences has been completely redesigned. Here’s what the Digsby team had to say about the redesign:

“We redesigned the Accounts section in Preferences from the ground up to reflect Services you use with features that you can enable and disable for each service. This is much more intuitive than having three separate lists of IM, email, and social network accounts.”

Redesigned email and social panels
Just like the Accounts section, the email and social panels on the buddy list have been redesigned as well. Instead of the login username, they now display the service name – when you have one of each service that is. They display the login username when you have more than one of each service.

If you want to, via the right click menu, you can manually rename the panels.
If you want to rearrange the panels, you can drag and drop them in the order you want.

Sorting and grouping is more intuitive
The grouping and sorting options in Preferences -> Buddy List work differently. The Digsby team explains: “The new set of options is more intuitive by letting you choose the grouping mechanism first and then choosing how to sort those groups. It also allows for an extra level of sorting as a result.”

Added RTL support
RTL support has been added to all IM window conversation themes.

ICQ spam blocking option
The Privacy settings features a new option (turned on by default) that allows ICQ account holders to automatically block friend requests with URLs in them.

Stability fixes
The Digsby team again: “We fixed several memory leaks related to account disconnects along with several of the most common crash causing bugs to improve Digsby stability and performance.”
