Flock, the web browser that puts the emphasis on the user’s social networking needs, has reached another important milestone in its development process. Earlier this week the version number of the Flock browser has been bumped up to 3.5. Flock 3.5 follows in the footsteps of Flock 3.0 which was rolled out back in June.
“We’ve launched our latest release, the new Flock v3.5 browser,” announced Shawn Hardin, CEO of Flock. “New Flock lets you enjoy the benefits of an even faster and better-performing Chromium 7. We also now integrate with LinkedIn and offer new Flock for the Mac. With LinkedIn, Twitter, Facebook, YouTube and Flickr all together in your Sidebar, it’s simple to follow and search friends and family and we’ve made it that much easier to organize your online content, both personally and professionally.”

If you would like to get Flock 3.5, you can grab it right now by heading to flock.com. But before you go get the browser, perhaps you would like to know what it has to offer. Here are Flock 3.5’s highlights. Flock 3.5 is based on Chrome 7 There was a time when Flock was based on the Firefox code; but starting with Flock 3.0, the Firefox code was dropped in favor of Google Chrome. This means Flock 3.5 is pretty much as fast as Chrome is; it also means Flock has a clean, minimal interface as Chrome does.
Flock Sidebar The Sidebar is home to all your social content. There you will find tweets, Facebook and LinkedIn status updates, RSS feeds, and YouTube and Flickr content.
Socializing You can choose to see all your friends in the Sidebar and get their updates fast. You can group friends as you see fit. You can also share content and updates across Facebook, LinkedIn and multiple Twitter accounts.
Social Search Entering a search query in the address bar brings up Google search results, recent pages, favorite sites and feeds, and matches from your friends’ status updates, tweets, and photo/video uploads across all of your social networks.
Customization You can customize your Flock experience by using Google Chrome extensions. There are thousands of extensions available in the Google Chrome Extensions gallery here.
