FoxToPhone: Chrome to Phone Functionality for Firefox Users
We recently reported that Mountain View-based search engine giant Google launched a Chrome extension called Chrome to Phone. This extension allows the Chrome user to:

- Send the link of a website from the Chrome browser to an Android-powered mobile device
- Send Google Maps info from Chrome to the Google Maps app on an Android phone
- Send YouTube videos from the Chrome browser to an Android-powered mobile device
- Select a phone number on a web page and send it to the dialer on an Android phone
- Select text and send it from the Chrome browser to an Android clipboard.

Sounds very good I know. But there is one little problem: what if you are not a fan of Google’s Chrome web browser? You have an Android-powered mobile device, that part is okay. But you would much rather use the Mozilla-developed Firefox browser to surf the web, not Google’s Chrome. What do you do if you want to enjoy Chrome to Phone functionality in your Firefox browser?

Why you do what I always do – turn to software and see if there is an application out there that can lend a helping. The application that can prove to be helpful in this situation is an add-on; the FoxToPhone add-on. This add-on is pretty much Chrome To Phone, just that it is for Firefox.

Here is the functionality you can expect to get from FoxToPhone, as detailed by its developer:
- Send current page with address bar button
- Right-click on any link/image/page to send it.
- Highlight any text and right click to send to the clipboard in your phone
- Automatically send market://, sms://, tel:// links to the Android device where the launch the relevant app.

To get this functionality you must install the add-on in your Firefox browser (download link here), then you must install the Chrome to Phone app on your Android-powered device (you can find the app in the Android Market).
