Game On 2010: Mozilla Announces What Prizes it Will Give Out
Wondering what you stand to win by taking part in the Game On 2010 competition? Wonder no more, because Julie Shin Choi, who manages the Game On 2010 competition for Mozilla Labs, has just recently shed some light onto some of the cool prizes you could get.

People keeping track of these things will remember that back in September the Mozilla Foundation announced the launch of a new initiative called Mozilla Labs Gaming, an initiative that focuses on games developed, delivered and played on the Open Web and the browser. As Mozilla explained at the time, the initiative’s focus is on Open Web Technologies such as Open Video, audio, WebGL, touch events, device orientation, geo location, and any other free, open-source tool that works across platforms and modern web browsers.



Alongside the Mozilla Labs Gaming initiative, Mozilla launched the Game On 2010 competition – the Game on 2010 site went up early September; the competition kicked off on the last day of September.

In October the Game On 2010 competition once again made the news when Mozilla announced that the first batch of judges has been selected. The following will be judging the Game On 2010 Competition:
  • Anand Agarawala - Interface designer, software developer, inventor
  • Dion Almaer - director of Developer Relations at Palm
  • Paul Bakaus - CTO of Zynga Germany
  • Ryan Carson - founder of Carsonified
  • Jacinda Chew - Art Director for Insomniac Games
  • Erik Christensen - programmer and game designer at Sony Online Entertainment
  • Greg Cohn - Sr. Director, Global Head of Product, Yahoo! Games, responsible for Yahoo’s Games and game developer strategy worldwide
  • Greg Costikyan - runs the playthisthing.com blog and the manifestogames.com site
  • Danc - Chief Creative Officer at Spry Fox
  • Mark Danks - Co-Studio Head for Zoë Mode San Francisco
  • Brendan Eich - CTO of the Mozilla Corp
  • Ben Galbraith - director of developer relations at Palm and the co-founder of Ajaxian.com
  • Alex Iskold - Founder/CEO of GetGlue
  • Sutha Kamal - technology architect at Fjord
  • Florian Landerl - co-founded Platogo
  • Tan Le - head of Emotiv Systems
  • Cathy Leung - professor at Seneca College in Toronto, Ontario.

All Game On 2010 entries must be submitted by January 11th, 2011. The winner will be announced on the 31st of January.
