Google Mobile App for iPhone Now Features Push Notification
Thanks to the Push Notification feature, you can rest assured that you are always kept in the loop. Even though an app is not up and running, if anything related to that app happens, you will receive a notification. Like in the case of the Facebook for iPhone app; if someone contacts you on Facebook, you will receive a Push Notification telling you that you need to access your Facebook account.

Mountain View-based search engine giant Google has recently announced the fact that it updated its Google Mobile App for iPhone to include just that sort of functionality. Or to put it in other words, the recently updated Google Mobile App for iPhone version 0.6 comes with Push Notification.

Google Mobile App users who have the latest version of the app will get a notification badge on the iPhone’s home screen whenever they get a new message in their Gmail inbox. They will also get a notification badge on the device’s home screen about Google Calendar events.

Engineering Manager David Singleton comments: “Ever missed an appointment or important email because you were away from your desk? Now Google Mobile App can help with push notifications from your Google account to your iPhone -- an icon badge shows you’ve got new mail in Gmail, and Google Calendar event reminders appear right on your home screen.”

The updated app comes with some other goodies. You no longer need to hit “Search” to look for info about the weather, flights, stock quotes or currency conversion. The app will offer an answer to your query as you type it, so you don’t even have to hit “Search”.

If you want to get Google Mobile App for iPhone, here’s the iTunes link. Or you can just take your iPhone, access the App Store and search for “Google Mobile App.”

Update: David Singleton came with some clarifications: “You will only receive pop-up messages and sound/vibration for calendar alerts - new email is shown using the unread count on the Google Mobile App icon and in the apps tab.”
