Google Wave Now Available for Everybody
Mountain View-based search engine giant Google announced that it made Google Wave, its collaboration and communication tool, available to everyone, all over the world. Google Wave has been opened up to the public as part of Google Labs – previously you needed an invitation to try out Google Wave.

“We began previewing Google Wave with individuals and a handful of Google Apps customers six months ago. Since then, Wave has been used in a great many interesting ways. It's clear from the invaluable feedback we've received that Wave is a great place to get work done, in particular for teams working together on projects that involve lots of discussion and close coordination,” commented Product Manager on the Google Wave Team, Stephanie Hannon.

Google first showcased Google Wave at the I/O event back in 2009. At the time Google said you could do the following with Wave:
- communicate with your friends and contacts just like you do with an IM client.
- communicate with your friends just like you do with an email client.
- collaborate online (edit rich media content at the same time).
- get rid of annoying typos. Google Wave includes a context-sensitive spell checker which works like this: as you type in your message, Wave uses language models from Google Translate to highlight any errors (like words that do not belong there).
- Google Wave APIs allow you to embed waves in web pages; it also allows you to add live social gadgets.

“If you tried Google Wave out a while ago, and found it not quite ready for real use, now is a good time to come back for a second try. Wave is much faster and much more stable than when we began the preview, and we have worked hard to make Wave easier to use,” explained Hannon. Participants added by mistake can now be removed, you can get email notifications when waves change, you can easily navigate to unread parts of a wave, you can select an extension from the extensions gallery, and you can play with the permission management options.
