HP Acquires Security Software Developer Fortify Software
HP, the American multinational information technology corporation headquartered in Palo Alto, California, recently announced that it is acquiring Fortify Software, security software vendor known for making security analysis and assurance tools for application developers. According to HP, after the acquisition goes through, Fortify Software will help HP’s clients to proactively reduce business risks of insecure software.

HP did not disclose how much money it will pay to acquire Fortify Software. HP did not disclose any of the terms of the deal. The only thing that HP disclosed was the fact that after the acquisition a market leading-solution that helps organizations reduce business risk, meet compliance regulations and protect against malicious application attacks will be offered by HP. This new solution will seamlessly integrate security assurance a cross the application life cycle.

HP said that Fortify Software will be integrated over time and that Fortify’s products will be integrated into HP’s Business Technology Optimization application portfolio. To ensure continuity while targeting the security market, Fortify will be run as a standalone entity after the acquisition.

“Businesses operate in a world of increasing security and compliance challenges, and the applications and services that they rely on are core to the problem and the solution,” said Bill Veghte, executive vice president, Software and Solutions, HP. “With Fortify’s leadership in static application security analysis combined with HP’s expertise in dynamic application security analysis, organizations will have a best-in-class solution to improve the security of their applications and services.”

“Fortify has always been committed to helping chief information security officers and application teams find, fix and prevent security vulnerabilities before they can be exploited by attackers,” said John M. Jack, chief executive officer, Fortify Software. “Joining HP will allow us to further integrate our proven technology and security expertise with HP’s solutions, letting our joint clients shrink the time-to-security for their new and existing production applications.”
