Immensely Popular Angry Birds Game Lands in the Intel AppUp Center
The Intel AppUp center, the simple, secure, one-stop-shop for netbook apps, is now host to the immensely popular Angry Birds game. Rovio Mobile, the developer of the Angry Birds game, said yesterday that it is “happy to announce the Angry Birds in the Intel AppUp center for netbooks and consumer laptops everywhere.”

In case you didn’t get it, and you’re wondering “what does this mean?” I will spell it out for you. This means that a PC version of the Angry Birds game has been released. Head over to appup.com , get the Intel AppUp center, and you can purchase Angry Birds for Windows XP and Windows 7. After installing the Intel AppUp center and after creating an account, you will be able to purchase the game. You can browse through the center’s offerings without creating an account.

If the fact that Angry Birds is available in the Intel AppUp center is great news, here comes the cherry on your celebratory cake – for a limited time, the game is available at a special discount price of $4.99. Normally the game cost $9.99 (or £5.99 or €7.99 for non-US residents).

What will you get for your $4.99? You will get close to 200 levels and hours of exciting gameplay. If you are not familiar with the game let me tell you a few things about it. Angry Birds is a puzzle video game created by Helsinki-based software developer Rovio. In the game some nasty, evil pig stole the birds’ eggs; so the flock of birds sets out to retrieve the eggs. Since the pigs are hiding out in structures made from various materials, the birds have to damage the structure and then take out the pigs. What you basically do is launch birds at various structures, and try to directly or indirectly take out the pigs. Directly by hitting a pig, or indirectly by damaging the structure which falls down on a pig.

“The game initially includes 195 levels packed with hours and hours of gameplay. Customers can expect free updates and additional levels to the game. In addition to this, there will be unique enhancements not found in the mobile version, free of charge,” explained Rovio Mobile in a blog post.
