Intego Virus Barrier X Protects Against Macro Viruses
With Office for Mac 2011 just around the corner, Intego, company that specializes in providing security solutions for Mac, has come out to announce that its VirusBarrier X6 security software solution can protect the users’ machines from macro viruses. You see, the ability to write macros in Word and Excel is a feature that’s been brought back in Office 2011.
Macros, as Intego explained, “are routines that use Microsoft’s Visual Basic for Applications (VBA) to perform repetitive actions, streamline the way you use the programs, or add features.” Users can create their own actions by using a library of commands and they can embed macros into files.

Office 2011 users may be at risk when they open files that contain macros. You see, Office macro viruses are a very common type of malware. Furthermore Macro viruses can infect both the Windows and the Mac version of the Office productivity suite and they survive just fine on Windows as well as on Mac.
