The development team behind Linux Mint has announced that the KDE edition of Linux Mint 10 codename Julia (as in Gens Julia, one of Ancient Rome’s most ancient Patrician families and the gens of the famous Gaius Julius Caesar) has successfully passed testing, but it will not be released to the public. The thing is that the builds that passed testing featured KDE 4.5.5. As you may already know, KDE 4.6 has been recently released. After mulling things over, the Linux Mint team decided that including KDE 4.6 into Linux Mint 10 KDE would be the best solution. Unfortunately this meant that the Linux Mint 10 KDE builds that passed testing had to be rejected.

“I know many people have been waiting for the KDE edition of Linux Mint 10 for a while now. This edition includes KDE 4.5.5 and both its 32-bit and 64-bit ISO were successfully tested about a week ago. After a discussion with Boo, we decided to upgrade KDE to the recently released 4.6 version. Because of the importance of this upgrade, the current ISOs are being rejected and the release will have to go through another cycle of testing again,” announced Lead Linux Mint Developer Clem Lefebvre.
