Microsoft Presents: Three Reasons to Go Ultimate
Windows 7, the latest and greatest version of the Microsoft-developed operating system, has been around for more than a year now (the operating system as released to the public as a final, stable version on the 22nd of October 2009). If you are still on Windows XP or Windows Vista, you are very well advised to upgrade. Better yet, get a new PC with Windows 7. That’s what I did and I do not regret it at all.

What Windows version should you get? You can go with Windows 7 Home Premium (that’s what most people get) or you can go with the top of the line, you can get Windows 7 Ultimate. Redmond-based software giant Microsoft made public three reasons why you should go with Windows 7 Ultimate.

Work and Play
Windows 7 Ultimate can properly meet your work and your play needs. On the work front, Windows 7 Ultimate comes with better power management, easier networking, and locationa??aware printing. When you’re done working and want to play a bit, you will like that with Windows 7 Ultimate you can enjoy TV, video, music, and online entertainment, wherever and whenever you want. This is all thanks to features like Windows Media Center, Play To, and Remote Media Streaming.

Extensive Language Support
Unlike what Hollywood movies would have you think, not everyone in the world speaks English. The Windows operating system is sold all over the world and Microsoft is well aware of that fact – and the fact that not everyone speaks English. That is why Windows 7 comes with language packs that allow the user to switch between 35 languages.

These language packs translate most of the Windows user interface; they are only available in Windows 7 Ultimate and Windows 7 Enterprise. The language packs are offered for free via Windows Update.

Security
BitLocker Drive Encryption, a feature that encrypts the entire drive Windows and your data reside on, thus keeping your data safe and protected, is only available on the Ultimate and Enterprise editions. Turn on BitLocker for a specific drive, and any file you save on that drive is automatically encrypted.

Information stored on portable devices like USB flash drives and external hard drives can be protected with BitLocker To Go. Data stored on these drives is encrypted by BitLocker To Go, thus ensuring it’s safe and protected.

Tip – if you’re already on Windows 7, On Home Premium for example, you can always upgrade via Windows Anytime Upgrade (WAU).
