Mozilla Updates Firefox Across the Range
Great news for all the Firefox fans out there: Mozilla has released updates for all the Firefox versions currently out there. This means Mozilla has released Firefox 3.5.11, Firefox 3.6.9 and Firefox 4 Beta 5. Let’s take a look at all these versions and see what’s new.

Firefox 3.5.12
Version 3.5.12 has been released to address a few stability issues and to plug a few security holes. Mozilla has released a grand total of 14 security advisories for Firefox 3.5.12. Out of the 14, 10 got the highest severity rating – critical. If you would like to learn more about the security issues Firefox 3.5.12 fixes, click here. You are well advised to update your browser to stay safe and secure.

Firefox 3.6.9
Just like version 3.5.12, Firefox 3.6.9 is meant to fix several stability issues and address a handful of security issues. For Firefox 3.6.9 Mozilla has released a grand total of 14 security advisories that you can check out here. 10 of the 14 advisories are rated as critical, Mozilla’s highest severity rating.

Sticking with the security theme we’ve got going on here, Firefox 3.6.9 comes with support for the X-Frame-Options HTTP response header. Site owners can use this to ensure their content is not embedded into other sites and thus mitigate clickjacking attacks.

Michael Coates, Web Security at Mozilla, comments: “This optional header can be included within the HTTP response to instruct the client’s browser on whether the returned content is allowed to be framed by other pages. A website can choose to include the x-frame-options header to protect against malicious framing of web content by third parties. For example a malicious site might frame a website from another domain and surround the framed site with advertisements. Alternatively, a malicious site could use a CSS layer attack called ClickJacking to trick users into performing unintended actions within the framed website that is obscured by overlaid CSS layers.”

Firefox 3.6.9 is available for download in more than 70 languages for Windows, Mac and Linux here.

Firefox 4 Beta 5
The development process of Firefox 4 is moving along nicely with the release of the 5th Beta. Firefox 4 Beta 5 adds the following new bits:
- Support for Audio Data API
- For Windows 7 users, Direct2D Hardware Acceleration is turned on by default.
- HSTS security protocol is now supported.
- The looks of the Firefox button have been polished (visible to Vista and Windows 7 users).

The bits presented above are just the new bits in Beta 5. The browser also features Crash Protection, Firefox Sync, Firefox Panorama (previously known as Tab Sets and Tab Candy), the HTML5 video "buffered" property is supported, the location of the tabs has been changed, CSS Transitions, turn a tab into an App Tab, faster JavaScript engine, and so on. Check out the release notes if you haven’t been following the development process of Firefox 4.

Firefox 4 Beta 5 is available for download in 39 languages here.
