New Service Announcement: Google Buzz
The Mountain View-based search engine giant recently announced the launch of a new service that automatically brings social networking to Google’s email client Gmail, Google’s web-based aggregator Google Reader, and all other services Google provides. Called Google Buzz , the service is somewhat similar to popular social networking site Facebook and popular micro-blogging site Twitter.

Google believes the social web is the next big thing. The social web represents the main way people share all sorts of things online and stay in touch with friends. The problem is that there is a multitude of tweets, update streams, status messages, and other data to go through. Google, with its experience in organizing information can help find relevance in the noise. In this regard Google has already launched things like real-time search and social search. Now Google is launching a new service, Google Buzz.

“Google Buzz is a new way to start conversations about the things you find interesting. It's built right into Gmail, so you don't have to peck out an entirely new set of friends from scratch — it just works. If you think about it, there's always been a big social network underlying Gmail. Buzz brings this network to the surface by automatically setting you up to follow the people you email and chat with the most. We focused on building an easy-to-use sharing experience that richly integrates photos, videos and links, and makes it easy to share publicly or privately (so you don't have to use different tools to share with different audiences). Plus, Buzz integrates tightly with your existing Gmail inbox, so you're sure to see the stuff that matters most as it happens in real time,” explained Todd Jackson, Product Manager, Gmail and Google Buzz.

Google Buzz is being rolled out to Gmail accounts as we speak. If you don’t see it just yet, be patient. The service is being rolled out gradually. Google Buzz will also be rolled out to businesses and schools that use Google Apps.

According to Todd Jackson, the openness of services such as Flickr and Twitter played an important part in the development of Google Buzz. For example you can connect Twitter and Flicker from Buzz in Gmail. Google Buzz provides support for: Flickr, Twitter, Picasa Web, YouTube, Blogger, and any feed connected to your Google profile.
