Opera Mobile 10.1 for Symbian Beta Released
Opera Software, the Norwegian software developer we all love for making the Opera desktop browser, has announced this week that it made the first Beta version of Opera Mobile 10.1 for Symbian Series 60 phones available to the pubic.
Now that Opera Mobile 10.1 is out, Opera Software wants just one thing from the public – to test the browser and provide feedback.

Should you decide to get Opera Mobile 10.1 Beta and put it to the test, you will be able to try out these new features:

- Geolocation – this feature, which is also available in Opera 10.60, determines your geographical location and puts you on the map. To be more precise, a website you visit asks the Opera browser for your location; if you agree to give out your location, the website can pinpoint your whereabouts and “do cool stuff” as Opera’s Aleksander Aas said.
- Improved browsing speeds – the browser features the Carakan JavaScript engine
- Vega graphics library
- Updated Opera Core

These are just the new features. Opera Mobile 10.1 Final comes with other bits and pieces that make it a great browser – a lot of bits and pieces: speed Dial, Opera Link, password manager, tabbed browsing, virtual keyboard, kinetic scrolling, auto-rotation to landscape mode, and Opera Turbo. The last feature for example, Opera Turbo, doubles your browsing speed by using Opera’s servers to compress whatever site you want to visit.

“Opera Mobile 10.1 Beta is a new upgrade, including the latest rendering technologies to boost browsing performance on Symbian Series 60 phones,” said Dag Olav Norem, Vice President, Mobile Products at Opera Software. “Millions of people already use Opera Mobile on their Nokia Series 60 phones and we hope many of them will help us test this new beta.”

If you would like to get Opera Mobile 10.1 Beta, you need to launch your Symbian Series 60 phone’s default browser and go to m.opera.com/next.
