It gives me great pleasure to find out that some of the biggest names in the software industry care for the environment as well and try to reduce their carbon footprint.
Like Google, who uses goats to mow some fields at its Mountain View headquarters; or Opera Software, who just recently announced it will switch to a new generation of servers. The new servers, which provide Opera Mini and Opera Turbo services for more than 120 million active Opera users worldwide, consume 35% less energy than the older ones. After the change Opera Software expects to see a performance increase of around 30%.

This is not the first time that Opera shows its love for the environment. The Norwegian software developer recently unveiled a new Icelandic data center that wastes less energy and uses more environmentally-friendly power.
In related news, Opera Software recently released Opera 10.5.4 to Windows and Mac users. Opera 10.5.4 is a security update that fixes two extremely severe issues on the Windows front and one extremely severe issue on the Mac front.
