Version 2.0 of the PayPal application for Android-powered mobile devices has just recently been rolled out to the public. PayPal 2.0 for iPhone has been around since March, so its nice to see the Android version catch up. The exciting thing about the iPhone app was that it came with bump technology; just like its sibling, PayPal 2.0 for Android also comes with bump capabilities.
“Just like our PayPal Mobile app on the iPhone, the new Android app features bump technology – allowing you to simply tap two phones together to send money,” explained Senior Director of PayPal Mobile, Laura Chambers.

Here’s the lowdown on how the “bump” feature works. Let’s say you meet your friend Bob, who owes you $100. You take out your Android-powered device, and launch the PayPal 2.0 application – your friend Bob does the same. To transfer money from Bob’s account to your account, Bob needs only knock or bump his device into yours. That’s right, money is transferred just by knocking the devices together. Of course, this works only if you and your friend both have Android-powered devices and the PayPal 2.0 for Android app.
One other feature was available in PayPal 2.0 for iPhone - Split Check, a feature that lets you split up a restaurant bill. This feature is also available in PayPal 2.0 for Android.
“Split the check is another great feature, which lets you automatically calculate the total cost of a bill and then collect money directly from friends when out to dinner,” commented Laura Chambers.” We hope these new features make it even easier to get paid back on the spot the next time you’re stuck picking up the tab.”
