Rollback Changes to Bookmarks in Firefox
It is the classic “oh no, I can’t believe I deleted that file yesterday, because I need it today.” Admit it, everyone has done that at least once in his life. I know I deleted some files one day, thinking I would never need them again, only to find out a couple of days later that I did indeed need one of the files. When something like that happens, there’s an easy fix – uses a data recovery tool to bring deleted files back to life.

But what if you delete bookmark in Firefox and you realize days later that you would want that bookmark back. If that is the case, there is little trick you can use – you can rollback changes made to bookmarks by restoring a previous day’s bookmark backup? Let’s say that on Sunday you deleted some bookmarks and now you want them back; here’s what you have to do:

1. Click Bookmarks -> from the dropdown menu select Organize bookmarks. Keyboard shortcut fans can just hit Ctrl + Shift + B.

2. The Library window will pop up -> click Import and Backup -> go to Restore -> Select Sunday, November 21, 2010.

3. A “This will replace all of your current bookmarks with the back. Are you sure?” prompt will appear. Click OK and you’re done.

Please note that instructions presented above are based on Firefox 3.6.12, the latest stable version of Firefox (Firefox 4 is still in Beta ). Speaking of Firefox 3.6, here’s a tip – you can use the Firefox Sync add-on to keep your bookmarks in sync. If you bookmark a site on my work computer for example, the same bookmark would show up in the bookmarks list on my home computer.

Besides bookmarks, the add-on also syncs passwords, preferences, tabs, and browsing history. You can get the add-on from AMO (addons.mozilla.org) here . When Firefox 4 will be rolled out as a stable, final version, you will no longer need the add-on because Firefox Sync is integrated within the browser.
