Skype, and I think you already know this, is a very popular company that has a very popular product. How popular is Skype? According to the latest statistics the company made public, there are 28 million concurrent users on Skype at any time. As Skype is growing in popularity, it is growing its team globally as part of its commitment to ramp its innovation of new products across different platforms for consumers and businesses.
This year Skype will open up 350 jobs, many of which will be in its Palo Alto office. So if you’re looking for a job, or if you are fed up with your current job, 2011 may be the year when you’ll start working for Skype. “Skype is the place to work in Silicon Valley”, said Jennifer Caukin, Director of PR for the Americas, responsible for Skype's media relations and communication activity in the region.

In related news, Skype has recently rolled out the final version of Skype 5.0 for Mac. One of the cool new features in Skype 5.0 for Mac, which is available for download here, is group video calling. A feature available in the Premium package, it allows you to chat with several people at the same time. Group video calling works only if the people you want to talk to are on the latest Mac or Windows version of Skype. You can use group video calling free of charge for a trial period 0f 7 days. After that you can get a monthly subscription or a day pass.
Another cool thing about the latest Skype for Mac version is that it is more compact. the minimum window size is smaller, pixels have been trimmed, the contact list has been tightened up, the amount of white space in the sidebar has been reduced, and even the amount of white space you see when you get instant messages has been tweaked.. As a result Skype 5.0 for Mac is more compact.
