Social Networking Site Facebook More Popular than Ever
Out of all the social networking sites out there, one seems to be more popular than the competition. I am of course talking about the hugely popular social networking site Facebook. Jut how popular is the site? Well, back in July 2009 there were more than 250 million Facebook users. The number of users grew to more than 300 million in September, then to 350 million in December.
Keeping in mind that it is now February 2010, how popular is Facebook amongst users all over the world? According to Mark Zuckerberg, Facebook’s co-founder, president and CEO, there are now more than 400 million Facebook users out there. Zuckerberg made that figure available to the public earlier this month, when the social networking site celebrated its 6th anniversary.

“So to celebrate six years of Facebook and the 400 million people on the service, we're doing what we like doing most—building and launching products for people,” said Mark Zuckerberg at the time.
The 400 million users mentioned above are people that access Facebook from their desktop computers. People who are constantly on the go also access Facebook – from their mobile devices. On this front Facebook is growing in popularity as well. The number of people who actively use Facebook on their mobile devices grew from 65 million in September 2009 to more than 100 million in February 2010.
“We want as many people as possible to be able to access Facebook all the time, regardless of where they live or what device they carry. We hit another milestone toward that goal, with more than 100 million people actively using Facebook from their mobile devices every month. Through this growth, we have continued to try to improve the experience of these mobile products. We work with every major device manufacturer and many operators to ensure that we can provide the best possible mobile experience across the thousands of different devices, mobile operating systems and carriers you rely on,” commented Facebook Vice-President of User Growth, Chamath Palihapitiya.
