Taskbar Control Brings Windows 7 Functionality to Windows XP, Vista
One of the cool new features in Windows 7, the latest and greatest version of the Microsoft-developed Windows operating system, is the option to switch taskbar buttons around. You can open files and applications in whatever order you want, then arrange them in a specific order in the taskbar.

In Windows XP and Windows Vista, if you wanted the taskbar buttons to be arranged in a specific order, you had to open them in a specific order. So if you wanted Firefox, Word, Notepad and Winamp, you had to open Firefox, then Word, then Notepad and finally Winamp. In Windows 7 you do not have to do so.

There is an application though that allows you to switch taskbar buttons as you see fit in Windows XP and Vista. Or to put it in other words, there is an application out there that allows XP and Vista users to switch taskbar buttons around like Windows 7 users can. That application is the Pointstone Software-developed Taskbar Control.

The application is offered by the developer free of charge, which means you can get it, enjoy its functionality, and not part with your hard earned money. I don’t know about you, but I don’t particularly like parting with my hard earned money. Speaking of getting Taskbar Control, this should only take a moment since the download weighs in at less than 1MB (767KB to be more precise). Installing the application takes little time as well. Some freeware applications are free because they come bundled with toolbars and other crapware or because they offer to change your default search – it is not the case with Taskbar Control.

You can set Taskbar Control to automatically run at startup. While Taskbar Control is running, it sits the in taskbar. While it is running you can switch taskbar buttons by dragging and dropping them, or from the application’s interface.
