Today, the 11th of March, is a big day for iOS users as this is the day that iOS 4.3 goes live. Last week, on the 2nd of March, Apple gave developers the gold master seed of iOS 4.3. Today, the Cupertino-based software developer rolls out iOS 4.3 to the general public.
“With more than 160 million iOS devices worldwide, including over 100 million iPhones, the growth of the iOS platform has been unprecedented,” said Steve Jobs, Apple’s CEO. “iOS 4.3 adds even more features to the world’s most advanced mobile operating system, across three blockbuster devices—iPad, iPhone and iPod touch—providing an ecosystem that offers customers an incredibly rich experience and developers unlimited opportunities.”

Browsing Speed Safari has the new Nitro JavaScript engine and provides even faster browsing speeds.
iTunes Home Sharing Thanks to iTunes Home Sharing, music, movies and TV shows can be played on an iPad, iPhone or iPod touch from the user’s iTunes library, over a WiFi network. The user could for example stream a movie from his Mac to his iPad. Enhanced Airplay AirPlay is now even better. The user can stream video from third party apps and web sites, videos from the Photos app and previews from the iTunes app to a second generation Apple TV.
Select what the iPad side switch does The side switch on the iPad can be used to lock the screen rotation or mute the audio.
Personal Hotspot Thanks to the Personal Hotspot feature, the user’s iPhone can act as a hotspot for up to five gadgets. As Apple explained, “up to five devices in a combination of up to three Wi-Fi, three Bluetooth and one USB device” can share an iPhone 4’s data connection.
There’s another reason why today, the 11th of March, is a big day. This is the day that the iPad 2 goes on sale in the US.
“With more than 15 million iPads sold, iPad has defined an entirely new category of mobile devices,” said Steve Jobs, Apple’s CEO. “While others have been scrambling to copy the first generation iPad, we’re launching iPad 2, which moves the bar far ahead of the competition and will likely cause them to go back to the drawing boards yet again.”
