The development team behind Google Goggles (the app that allows you to search for something by simply taking a picture of that something) has announced that the app has been updated to version 1.3. This latest version is “faster and smarter than ever before” and it can solve Sudoku puzzles.
Have you been straining your brains trying to figure out the solution for a Sudoku puzzle? Do you want to play a trick on your friends and show them how brilliant you are by solving a Sudoku puzzle in no time at all? If you answered “yes” to both those questions, then Google Goggles 1.3 has your back. Take a picture of the Sudoku puzzle and the application will solve it for you.

“Our favorite weekend distraction is a quiet 15 minutes spent solving a Sudoku puzzle,” said Leon Palm and Jiayong Zhang, Software Engineers. “But even that can be an frustrating experience if (like us) you make a mistake and are unable to solve the puzzle. Now, Goggles on Android and iPhone can recognize puzzles and provide answers to help make you faster than a Sudoku champ. So if you ever get stuck, take a clear picture of the entire puzzle with Goggles and we’ll tell you the correct solution.”
Apart from this interesting trick, Google Goggles comes with these two other improvements: Faster barcode scanning Version 1.3 scans barcodes faster than ever before. Simply launch Google Goggles, hover your phone over the barcode (or QR code), and within a second you will be presented with results related to the barcode you just scanned. Tap a result and you will be able to read product reviews, check in-store availability and compare prices.
Recognizes print ads in magazines and news papers Version 1.3 can recognize print ads in popular magazines and newspapers. Take a picture of an ad displayed in a magazine and you will see that Google Goggles will recognize it and return web search results about the product or brand. Please note that this feature works with print ads appearing in major U.S. magazines and newspapers from August 2010 onwards.
