The development team behind Yahoo!’s email client, the aptly named Yahoo! Mail, is continually trying to make the service a better one – and thus make the user experience a better one. In order to achieve this goal, the Yahoo! Mail team must take one vital element into consideration: feedback provided by the Yahoo! Mail users. After all, who else knows how to make the email client better?
The users’ latest grief is that they do not have enough space to read emails, because they have a small computer screen. The Yahoo! Mail team listened to this feedback and came up with a solution: a collapsible button that hides the ad from the right hand side of the screen, thus providing the user with more space to view the emails in the inbox.

The collapsible button can be found to the left of the ads displayed in the Yahoo! Mail inbox. Please note that we are talking about the All-New Yahoo! Mail here, not the classic version.
Also note that the ad will not be permanently disable; it is only temporarily hidden away.
“This is a handy tool, especially if you are using a computer with a smaller screen resolution like a small laptop or netbook. While it doesn’t permanently remove ads, it will give you more space while you read an email. Ads are what allow us to provide you Yahoo! Mail as a free service and hopefully they’re sometimes useful and interesting too. If you would like permanently disable ads you can sign up for Mail Plus which offers an ad-free experience and other enhanced features,” explained Program Manager with Yahoo! Mail, Andrew Molyneux.
We’ve said it before and we are going to say it again: if you are still using the outdated Internet Explorer 6 (IE6) browser you are not getting the most out of Yahoo! Mail. You need to upgrade – either to a newer version of Internet Explorer (like IE8, which is the safest browser in the IE range) or to some other browser (may I suggest Firefox 3.6 or Opera 10.5).
