I have been using Weave Sync for a while now to keep my browsing history, bookmarks, preferences and passwords synced between my work computer, my home computer and the computer I use when I go visit my significant other. It gives me great pleasure to announce that the development process of Weave Sync is moving along smoothly and that Weave Sync 1.0 will be released soon.
Weave Sync was announced back in the spring of 2009. It was presented then as a “prototype that encrypts and securely synchronizes the Firefox experience across multiple browsers, so that your desktop, laptop and mobile phone can all work together.” Basically it would sync your browsing history, bookmarks, passwords, preferences and tabs so that you would not notice the difference when you moved from one computer to another (or from your computer to a mobile device).

Weave Sync went through a couple of Betas which addressed problems like the fact that Weave would store bookmarks in the wrong folder, or the fact that the UI was a bit unfriendly with novice users. Weave Sync has now reached RC (Release Candidate) status in its development process and is getting ready for the next big step – the final, stable version, or 1.0.
On Behalf of the Weave team, Edward Lee, comments: “Weave Sync is almost ready for 1.0 based on the feedback from our beta releases, and people are excited to get their personal Firefox experience on their laptop, desktop and mobile devices. We’ve addressed a few issues of rough edges that some users noticed and made a few changes to improve the overall experience.”
At this time Weave Sync RC brings these new bits and pieces to the table:
Faster startup times for Firefox and Fennec
Make tabs available immediately when setting up another computer
Automatically use the synced lightweight theme (Firefox 3.6+)
Better integration with Fennec UX
Avoid triggering master password prompt on launching Firefox
According to Edward Lee, the Weave team hopes to have Weave Sync 1.0 ready for the release of Firefox 3.6, which coincidently is always is currently a RC as well.
