Windows 7 Family Pack Is Back
Windows 7, the latest and greatest version of the Microsoft-developed operating system, reached GA (General Availability) status on the 22nd of October, 2009. This month last year Windows 7 hit the stores and users from all over the world rushed to get the application. According to Craig Beilinson, Director of Marketing with Microsoft’s Entertainment and Devices Division, Windows 7 is “by far the fastest selling operating system in history” – by June 2010 Microsoft sold more than 150 million Windows 7 licenses, just to put things in perspective.

To celebrate Windows 7’s first anniversary, Microsoft has decided to bring back the Windows 7 Family Pack. Back in 2009 you could get 3 Windows 7 Home Premium licenses for $144.99. Thanks to Windows 7 Family Pack, you can get a version of the operating system and install it on a total of 3 computers. This is especially useful if you have multiple computers in your home. Microsoft announced that the price has not changed – the Windows 7 Family pack that Microsoft will bring back this October will cost the same as it did in 2009.

In the US, Windows 7 Family Pack is available for purchase at participating retailers and at the Microsoft Store as of yesterday, the 3rd of October. Outside the US, Windows 7 Family Pack will become available for purchase on or after October 22nd.

According to Ashley Brown, Public Relations Manager, Windows Consumer Media at Microsoft, the non-US countries where Family Pack will be available are: United States, Canada, UK, France, Germany, China, Russia, Austria, Belgium, Denmark, Finland, Iceland, Ireland, Italy, Luxembourg, Netherlands, Norway, Portugal, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Czech Republic, Estonia, Greece, Hungary, Slovakia, Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, UAE, Australia, Korea, New Zealand, Singapore, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Brazil, Bulgaria, Croatia, Latvia, Lithuania, Mexico, Romania, and Ukraine.

“This is your chance to get up to three PCs running Windows 7 Home Premium for the low price of $149.99 ERP [Estimated Retail Price]. But act fast—Family Pack is only available while supplies last,” said Ashley Brown.
