The big news this week for Yahoo! Messenger fans who have an iPhone is that Yahoo! updated the Yahoo! Messenger app to version 2.0. This latest version comes with several new features: the application can run in the background while you play with other apps, the application lets you make video calls, lets you make voice calls, and low cost landline, mobile and international voice calls.
There are a few drawbacks though. Keep reading to find out what the Yahoo! Messenger 2.0 iPhone app drawbacks are.

With version 2.0 of the Yahoo! Messenger iPhone app, you can make video calls and stream live video one-to-one – but only if you have an iPhone 3GS or an iPhone 4, and only if your device is running on iOS 4.1.
With the Yahoo! Messenger iPhone app, version 2.0, you can call landline and mobile phones. If you have friends in other countries, you can also call international phone numbers – but only if you are a premium user in a select country. You need to be a Yahoo! Voice Phone Out subscriber in US, France, Germany, Spain or Singapore to enjoy this functionality.
From within the Yahoo! Messenger app you can send text messages to your Messenger friends and you will not pay anything for them. The emphasis here falls on the word “you”. You will not pay anything – but your Messenger friend may pay for the SMS. The carrier may charge the SMS recipient.
Hoping that these drawbacks will not put you off, here is what you have to do to get the latest Yahoo! Messenger iPhone app version. If you already have Yahoo! Messenger installed on your iPhone, tap App Store icon on your device’s screen, search for Yahoo! Messenger, then download and install version 2.0. If you have an update alert for the Yahoo! Messenger app, then you don’t need to do all that searching. Or you could just get the Yahoo! Messenger for iPhone app straight from the App Store – here’s the link.
